MOBILE HOME(LESS): OPEN CALL FOR VISUAL AND COMMUNITY ARTISTS IN FINLAND AND THE BENELUX COUNTRIES

20 April 2016

What does Europe’s homelessness look like?
The Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux invites visual artists and community artists to propose new art projects dealing with homelessness. The open call is part of the Mobile Home 2017* initiative, which explores notions of the home as a physical, mental and symbolic place, as well as a socio-cultural concept.
Less visible than physical homelessness, is also mental homelessness and its’ consequences. Questions like home and identity, power structures and, for instance, the feeling of security are also on the table when opening different perspectives to the issue.

The chosen proposal will receive a production bursary of up to € 10 000. The project partners will help in finding a suitable way to exhibit the work in Finland and/or in the Benelux region during 2017 depending on the type of the project. In addition, two runner-up proposals will be awarded with 1000€ bursary by ArtHelsinki.
