Monday 16th October 2017: announcement of the winner

Created in 2000 to highlight the creative energy of the artists on the French artistic scene, every year the Marcel Duchamp Prize honours a winner from among four French artists or artists residing in France, working in the field of the plastic and visual arts. The ambition of this collector’s prize is to bring together the most innovative artists of their generation and help them develop their visibility in France and worldwide. Organized from the outset in partnership with the Centre Pompidou and endowed with the sum of 35 000 euros, it is considered to be one of the most relevant vectors of information about contemporary art in France today and one of the top benchmark national prizes worldwide. On the 2nd of February at ARTCURIAL, Gilles Fuchs, President of the ADIAF, revealed the names of the four artists nominated for the Marcel Duchamp Prize.

“In 2016, Marcel Duchamp gained new momentum with the group show of the four nominated artists shown for three months in the 650m2 Galerie 4 in the Centre Pompidou. This major evolution gives the French contemporary scene tremendous visibility in one of the most prestigious Museums in the world, declared Gilles Fuchs, who applauded the success of this new format. We are impatient to discover the exhibition of our four new finalists in the Centre Pompidou.” The four artists have been selected by a committee of the ADIAF’s collectors. The winner will be chosen by an international jury of collectors and directors of leading institutions. The announcement of the winning artist will be made in the Centre Pompidou on Monday, the 16th of October 2017, during the week of the FIAC. A catalogue dedicated to the prize’s artists will be published by the ADIAF which will also award the winner a financial endowment of 35 000 euros.
