INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF GLASS 2015

We are pleased to announce new dates for the next International Festival of Glass and launch of the British Glass Biennale. These will now take place between 25 and 31 May 2015. We are busy making plans for an even more exciting and interesting festival and will be releasing details in plenty of time for you to book up your diaries.

The postponement is due to further development at Ruskin Mill Trust’s Glasshouse College site in Stourbridge during 2014, in partnership with ERDF and Heritage Lottery. This will enable the provision of more workshops and business units, a reception and visitor area and a redeveloped car park.

We thank you for your continuing support for the Festival and Biennale and look forward to seeing you in 2015.
Kind Regards,
Keith Brocklehurst and Natasha George

Glasshouse College
Glasshouse College in Stourbridge is one of three independent specialist further education colleges operated by Ruskin Mill Trust, providing Practical Skill Therapeutic Education for young people aged 16 to 25 years who have a range of learning difficulties, including autistic spectrum disorders and behaviours that challenge.
Founded in September 2000, Glasshouse College is based in a former crystal glassworks in Stourbridge, West Midlands, providing glass-making and glass-cutting, a range of craft workshops, a commercial glass centre, a studio theatre, a public coffee shop, as well as a narrowboat on the Stourbridge canal.
The college's nearby Vale Head Farm offers horticulture, animal husbandry, woodland management, felting, and catering in a 36 acre rural setting; whilst the Greenwich Woodland creates opportunities for green woodworking, Iron-Age forging, clay and pottery workshops, bow making and archery.
Through engagement with a curriculum involving glassblowing and glass cutting, weaving, pottery, jewellery making, stone carving, bronze casting, blacksmithing, drama, mask-making, catering and hospitality, students will have the opportunity to increase their self esteem and to develop skills in communication, numeracy, literacy, ICT, team-building, work competence, employability, and independent living.
