REQUEST FOR CANDIDATES FOR A SERIES OF EXHIBITION

The “Pôle Bijou Gallery”, managed by the “Communauté de Communes des Vallées du Cristal et sis” located in Baccarat (Meurthe-et-Moselle - France) is an international exhibition gallery dedicated to presenting and promoting jewelry designers.
Open since July 2010, it has already presented seven exhibitions on such diverse topics as the use of gems, textile techniques or techniques of glass with jewelry, and the Costa Rican contemporary jewelry..

Today, a series of expositions is scheduled during the period from June 2014 to November 2016 on the theme "The five elements "
The timetable is as follows:
-June 10 to November 23, 2014: Opus 1 - Earth (application to be sent before March 29th, 2014)
-January to June 2015: Opus 2 - Water (application to be sent before September 30th, 2014)
-June to November 2015: Opus 3 - Air (application to be sent before January 30th 2015)
-January to June 2016: Opus 4 - Fire (application to be sent before September 30th, 2015)
-June to November 2016: Opus 5 - Ether (application to be sent before January 30th 2016)
 
We called on all the Jewelry designers who wish to file an application to participate in:
- One or more of these exhibitions
- The entire series of exhibitions (application to be sent before March 29th, 2014)

1) Thematic Approach
The theory of the five elements is a traditional way to describe and analyze the world. In the Western World, it was founded by the Greek philosophers (especially Empedocles in the fifth century B.C.). However, quite similar theories also existed in many other civilizations such as the Asian world.
It is based on the assumption that all materials in the World are composed in greater or less quantity of one or more of these five elements (Earth, Water, Air / Wood, Fire and Ether / metal), which regulate the functional law of creation and destruction.
For this exhibition project the elements can be represented in all the dimensions that are associated with them...

2) Conditions for participation in the exhibitions
The artists who will be selected to participate in these exhibitions accept the following terms and conditions:
- Ship at their own cost, their exhibit pieces (5-7 pieces), which will need to be received by the “Communauté de Communes des Vallées du Cristal” at least 10 days before the opening of the exhibition.
- Provide, at least two months before the opening of the exhibition, the detailed list of the pieces to be presented (titles, compositions, year of production, insurance values) as well as duty-free photographs (300 dpi), a description of the items and the work performed, a CV and a photographic portrait.
La Communauté de Communes des Vallées du Cristal will cover the followings:
- Cost of return shipping of the exhibit pieces
- Operating costs associated with the exposition gallery
- Cost of promotional and marketing material (posters, press releases ...) .
The pieces exhibited will be subject to sale under consignment contracts. “La Communauté de Communes des Vallées du Cristal“ will retain 30 to 35 % of the retail price for management fees related to the boutique gallery use.

3) How to apply
Each application must be sent by email to monique.manoha@ccvc54.fr before midnight of the required dates. Please indicate "candidature exposition – Eléments – Opus " in the message subject . An acknowledgment message will be sent to inform you that your application has been received. In case of non-acknowledgement of receipt within three days of sending your application, please call +11 33 3 83 76 06 99 since it might indicate that your application was sent incorrectly!

The application must contain:
- A resume of the artist candidate
- A photographic portrait of the artist candidate
- A description of his work and his approach ... indicating how he/she made the connection with the apply subject
- Pictures of the proposed pieces related to this request (5 to 7 pieces)
- A list showing the titles, insurance values, material and size/format of the proposed pieces
- Professional proof
- A sworn statement indicating that the proposed objects are the creation and manufacturing of the applicant, or if a subcontractor has been used for the manufacturing, indicate the terms (person who manufactured the parts ...)
