Casting Inside Out and Outside In
27-30/3/2014

This four-day course aims to introduce students to the principles of core casting and the use of found objects, textures and forms as building blocks for creativity in glass sculpture. Max Jacquard uses simple exercises such as the “personal drinking vessel” to start students on a new thinking process using a variety of materials as creative tools. This then builds into a language suited to diverse individual ways of working, whether for art or design based ends. During the course we will cover silicone mould making;  wax techniques including dipping and collage; glass prep and colour effects; other mould making techniques and kiln programming.

TUTOR PROFILE - MAX JACQUARD
Max has established a strong reputation for innovation both in technique and conception that makes his work distinctive and unique amongst UK glass artists. His style combines personal stories with diverse cultural references including archaeology, nature, landscape and craft traditions. Kiln forming is employed as the central technique but the results are extensively cold worked and combined with other media in a rich sculptural language. Max co-founded the artists group, New London Glass and lectures regularly in kiln-formed glass techniques. See http://www.maxjacquard.com
