On April 10, 2014, on the Day of the German Language in the Netherlands, the well-written and well-made book Crystal Worlds – the Heinrich Campendonk’s stained-glass Windows arrived in my mail postbox.
So, learn to read German, as this book is that language only, giving all information on the artist Campendonk, his life and work.

Heinrich Campendonk (3 November 1889 - 9 May 1957) was a Dutch painter, born in Krefeld, Germany. He was a member of the group Der Blaue Reiter from 1911 to 1912. When the Nazi regime came to power in 1933, he was prohibited from exhibiting as so many Modernists. He moved to the Netherlands, where he spent the rest of his life working at the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam, at first teaching Decorative Art, printmaking and stained glass, later as the Academy Director.

In the Foreword Myriam Wierschowski explaines that this book is in a series of leading stained art painters like Johan Thorn Prikker and Anton Wendling, with Campendonk’s body of works, now in the exposition in the Deutsches Glasmalerei-Museum Linnich from 5/4/2014 to 28/9/2014.
