The next edition will take place on Saturday April 16, 2016. As in the previous years, around 60 visual artists from Denmark (including the Faroe Islands and Greenland), Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden will be invited to present their portfolios to key curators and gatekeepers of the Berlin art scene. These include representatives of major art institutions, residency organisers, and festival curators. One-to-one meetings will take place in a relaxed yet concentrated atmosphere at the Nordic Embassies Berlin. While the artists enhance their chances of international recognition, the German curators profit from a thorough insight into the latest artistic developments in the North.
As of November 3, 2015, until January 15, 2016, Nordic artists are invited to apply for GROSSES TREFFEN portfolio review 2016. By doing so, artists automatically apply to be included in our online database www.grossestreffen.org. The online application on our website is open to artists working with any kind of media—sculpture, painting, photography, new media, sound, performance, or art in public space. The application phase ends on January 15, 2016. In the next step, an international jury will select the participants who will be part of the online database or get to travel to the portfolio review in April 2016.
Please find the reviewers listed on the website from November 3.
GROSSES TREFFEN database: Beyond the Usual Suspects
This year we launched GROSSES TREFFEN database in order to satisfy the strong international curatorial interest in discovering talented and visionary artists from the Nordic countries. The database consists of more than 500 selected artist profiles from the GROSSES TREFFEN open calls. The database addresses those who want to dig in and get wise on artists from the Nordic art scenes, in particular professionals such as curators, academics, journalists, cultural producers, artists or teachers. GROSSES TREFFEN database provides an impressive up to date overview of what’s new in art from the North.
GROSSES TREFFEN portfolio review and database is generously supported by Kulturkontakt Nord and The Nordic Embassies in Berlin.
