GLASMUSEET EBELTOFT ANNOUNCES THE FOURTH YOUNG GLASS COMPETITION

Glasmuseet Ebeltoft is now organizing its 4th Young Glass competition
“Young Glass” has become a major international competition established to reward and promote innovation and young talent in contemporary glass. It was initiated by Glasmuseet Ebeltoft in 1987 and is repeated every 10^th year. The museum is now organizing its 4th competition to take place in 2017.

The exhibition will focus and take stock of the work created by the younger generation of artists working with glass. The competition is open to all students, artists, designers and craftsmen using glass as a key element in their work and born after 1^st January 1982. Applicants must submit images of works to be evaluated by an international jury, who will make the selection of work for the exhibition and subsequently select the winners of the competition.

The exhibition will be shown in Ebeltoft from 10^th June - 29^th October 2017 and is a collaboration with the National Glass Centre, Sunderland, UK, to which it is expected to tour in spring 2018. The project is part of the Aarhus 2017 – European City of Culture programme.

-The Ebeltoft Prize, sponsored by Glasmuseet Ebeltoft Euro 10,000 and a solo exhibition at Glasmuseet Ebeltoft
-The Kvadrat Prize, sponsored by Kvadrat A/S, Ebeltoft Euro 5,000
-The Kyohei Fujita Memorial Prize, sponsored by the Fujita family Euro 5,000
-The Finn Lynggaard Prize, sponsored by The Finn Lynggaard Foundation Euro 2,000 to be awarded to a Danish artist
-The Sunderland Residency, sponsored by The National Glass Centre, UK Artist residency
-The Sybren Valkema Prize, sponsored by the VRIJ GLAS Foundation, NL 2-week inspirational residency in Indonesia at the VRIJ Glass Foundation Branch in Bali
