The year’s object "Harmony" that I designed for the Glaskunstbeurs 2016 in Leerdam is inspired by a former design I made in 2011 for the project Blown to Life.
The vast body of blown objects has been sold but there are still objects to be purchased!

For this project, we worked with recycled glass and I made two Coca Cola bottles penetrating each other, and fused into one object. This happened in the glass blowing technique, so there was only one moment, one chance to get it done.
This concept inspired me to make a more abstract form from the same starting point.
That one moment that everything has to be in Harmony.
The two bottles in my design though are not stuck together in a hot glassblowing way, but are two separate objects which you can put together yourself, play with and search for the Harmony yourself.

Tulip vase
This object fits into my collection because I often combine or assemble different, separate forms, together, like my Tulip vase, or stack of dishes, etc.
I liked to see how two or three or six objects form one whole, I like to play with that thought.
My design is executed in glass by Marek Bartko in the Czech Republic, whose solutions and final shape made me very happy, because in that way the object became perfect and in harmony.
When I blow the glass myself it is more imperfect and playful, because as a glassblower I like to play, but as a designer you can be more precise and ask for exactly what you want. That's what makes me grateful for this opportunity to be a designer for once and let the skilled people do their job.
