S12 was opened on the 16th of May 2007 as an artist run exhibition space and open access studio for glass in the heart of Bergen, Norway. We wish to focus on an interdisciplinary collaboration between glass and various art forms, and open up to new and experimental expressions.

Our exhibition program consists of exhibitions of art and design by both established and emerging artists.  The workshop consists of facilities for blowing, casting, model and mold-making as well as for grinding, polishing and sandblasting. These facilities can be rented both long and short term and to support the work of emerging artist we offer them at a 30 % discount. S12 has a residency program and also arranges courses for professionals, amateurs and children.

Our location at street level in the city center makes us accessible to anyone who wants to see the work that goes on in S12. We want to contribute to an open and creative dialogue to create an understanding of our field and make art and its creation accessible to the general public.
