Objects that are original, innovative, highly artistic or even playful – but always created for a practical reason. In this context, an object whose qualities are only artistic, aesthetic or ethereal cannot be considered ‘utilitarian’. All techniques will be represented, including stained glass, flat glass and jewellery.
The exhibition will incorporate individual objects and small series of objects, as well as industrially manufactured items, all of which will come directly from the artists or workshops – no galleries or agents will be involved. Preference will be given to newer objects, but older works will also be accepted.
For logistical reasons, preference will also be given to smaller objects. The exhibition will present the objects in everyday situations. The works will be available for sale from the museum shops and possibly also online. Prices must be low or affordable.
Conditions and organization
1. Participation is limited to 3 works. A maximum of 3 examples of each object (i.e. a maximum of 9 objects in total) may be submitted for the exhibition and for sale in the museum shops.
2. Photographs of the objects should be sent to info@vitromusee.ch by 12 February 2017. Keyword: Exhibition 2017.
3. In addition, a text of not more than 1,000 characters (including spaces) should be submitted: author, title(s), technique(s) used, dimensions, year(s) of completion, sales price (see below). Brief explanation (in F, E or D) as to how the work corresponds to the concept of the exhibition.
4. The jury will make its selection by 1 March 2017.
5. Works should be sent or delivered to the Vitromusée by 1 April 2017.
Works are sent or delivered to the Vitromusée Romont at the sender’s cost and risk. For works being sent from abroad, the Museum will bear customs and VAT charges incurred in Switzerland. When the exhibition is over, the Museum will organize the return to the owners of works that were sent to the Museum and will bear the costs incurred thereby. However, the recipient is responsible for any (customs) charges levied by the country to which the objects are shipped.
6. The sales price, which includes a 25% commission that will go towards organizational expenses, must not exceed CHF 500.- per object. Preference will be given to objects with lower prices. Slightly higher prices may be assigned to individual works if they are submitted together with lower-priced objects.
