Qualities:
-Excellent glassblowing skills.
-Knowledge of, or willingness to learn how to operate all our kilns.
-Good knowledge of all basic cold-shop techniques, including sandblasting.
-Basic knowledge of all other techniques and needs applicable in S12’s workshop.
-Organisational skills, cleanliness and attention to details in the workshop.
-A responsible and loyal person, who has the ability to work in a team, and who easily and quickly adapts to new situations and new people.
-You take initiative, can work independently, and contribute creatively to the team’s work.
-You are a good problem-solver who functions well in stressful situations.
-Capacity to communicate effectively with co-workers and excellent customer service is a must.
-Willingness and ability to learn new techniques when working with glass.
-Interest and ability to use the workshop for personal creations during free hours.
-Drivers-license is an advantage
-Language: English is a must and knowledge of Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is an advantage.
-The successful applicant must be willing to live in Bergen during the period of employment.
 
Tasks include, but are not limited to:
-Professionally, safely and efficiently, running and maintaining a clean and organized workshop.
-Having the responsibility to organize the overall use of the workshop, and prepare monthly schedules
for its use as well as for the adjacent Project room.
-Assisting artists participating in our Residency-program, when working with a variety of techniques in
the workshop.
-Maintenance of equipment used in the workshop.
-Take part in outreach and educational programs.
   *Including the Creative SundaySchool during 3 - 4 Sundays a month, during 6 – 7 months a
year.
-Supporting installation and removal of S12s exhibitions
    * 5 – 6 exhibitions a year
-Packing and sending artwork, when being returned it to its owner after exhibitions.
-Participating in arranging various in-house events; open house, artist presentations etc.
 
S12 Galleri og Verksted
-Contributing to a positive working environment in the studio for all its users.
-Working days a week are 5, Wednesday through Sunday or Monday through Friday, depending on activities and time of year.
-The workload pr. year is 80%, but can vary greatly during periods of year, depending on activities.
Working hours pr. day do also vary depending on activities.
During a period of about three months in 2018, S12’s will move all its activities to a new location and undergo a change and re-organization of all areas. Furnace, kilns and all working areas will be rearranged, calling for dedicated planning at all levels. The Workshop manager will play an important role in this work and the whole planning process, thus being able to strongly influence the future arrangement of S12’s main working areas.
 
S12 will provide:
-Basic monthly income, amount to be discussed.
-Additional payment for part of the outreach and educational work, based on your participation and
your initiative.
-Full access to the S12 workshop when not in use for S12 projects. S12 will in addition in cooperation with you, arrange for longer periods where the workshop will be available for you to do your own work. Days and hours you can use during normal working weeks are not counted as part of the above-mentioned periods. These hours/days are yours to use freely, but you will at the same time be requested to make sure that the workshop is running smoothly.
-The opportunity to initiate different kind of projects alone, or in co-operation with the S12 team.
-The possibility to sell your own work through S12.
In addition:
-You will be joining a small team running and continuously developing the activities of S12.
-S12 works on a project bases and is funded as such.
-S12 can and must create own income through educational and community activities as well as sales of objects made in S12. Increased income will benefit all members of the team including yourself, and you will be expected to participate in creating new activities and/or new work that can create extra income for S12.
-The position can be extended to last more than 1 year.
 
Reservations:
-This position is dependent on S12 keeping its financial support from the Norwegian Arts Council and the City of Bergen.
