CALL FOR ARTIST SUBMISSIONS OPENS ON MARCH 14 FOR NEW GLASS 2019, AN EXHIBITION DEVOTED TO CONTEMPORARY ARTISTIC GLASS

-2019 Exhibition Coincides with the 40th Edition of New Glass Review,?a Premier Journal Devoted to Contemporary Works of Glass

The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York, announces a call for artist submissions beginning on March 14, 2018, for New Glass 2019, the third iteration of the Museum’s survey exhibition of developments in contemporary glass and the 40th edition of their flagship publication, New Glass Review.

Artists, craftspeople, designers, and architects are invited to submit images of new works made in glass—including video works and performance art in which glass plays a fundamental role—for New Glass 2019. Emerging and established artists, as well as students from around the world are encouraged to put forward work for consideration. Works must have been made between 2015 and 2018.

Susie J. Silbert, The Corning Museum of Glass Curator of Modern and Contemporary Glass, and three guest curators who will be announced later this spring, will select up to 100 works to be included in the exhibition, New Glass 2019—the Museum’s first exhibition devoted solely to contemporary art and design in glass in the 21st century. Works will be selected by the end of 2018 and the exhibition will be presented at the Museum in spring 2019. The selected works will also be included in the 40th edition of New Glass Review, which will feature a new design and curatorial approach.

ABOUT NEW GLASS REVIEW
New Glass Review is a time capsule and ever-growing archive of the innovation, creativity, dexterity, and thoughtfulness of artists, designers, architects, and students in glass. Each year’s issue is an exhibition-in-print that demonstrates the shifting concerns of contemporary glassmakers and users from around the world. Collectively, the journal—and the archive of published and unpublished submissions it generates—forms the world’s most comprehensive documentation of human achievement in glass from 1979 through the present day.
The 40th edition of New Glass Review will be published by The Corning Museum of Glass in late May 2019.
