Grow! is the first exhibition by Pop Up! Edinburgh, an organisation created to bring art to unique and unexpected places within the city. This show is about recognizing the spirit of Edinburgh during the August festival season, and uniting artists glass artists with a connection to Edinburgh. We hope to see some innovative work that will work well off of plinths and in the garden so we can see the work and the plants enhance one another.
The main component of the work or installation should feature glass. All artists are welcome to apply, but should have some connection to Edinburgh. We are looking for work that will work with and enhance on of Edinburgh’s greatest treasures: The Glass Houses at the Royal Botanic Gardens.
Jurors: Alison McConachie, Geoffrey Mann, and Elinor Gallant.

Submissions Deadline: 15th June 2013 EXTENDED to 11:59pm GMT 17th June 2013
Key Dates:
Work delivered (if not bringing for install dates): 24th – 29th July 2013
Installation: 29th July – 1st August 2013
Exhibition: 3rd August – 25th August
with a ticketed Private View 2nd of August
Details: Artwork can be of any scale that will fit into the glasshouses and can be specifically designed for the houses. The houses in question are: Temperate Lands; Rainforest Riches; Arid Lands; Montane Tropics; Wet Tropics – the last two both have plant display cases That could potentially house work. Images of the houses will available on the website.
Images: You may submit two proposals with two images each, for a maximum of 4 images. Images must be at 72dpi resolution and no larger than 1mb.
Each image clearly labelled:
‘LastName_FirstName_Title_Grow.jpg’
Restrictions: No organic material is permitted in the Gardens, as it could potentially harm the plantlife within. Any wood in pieces must be approved on a case by case basis, and may be rejected.
Any special construction requirements will also be considered on a case by case basis and artists may be asked to modify their proposal to fit the space.
Shipping & Insurance: Artists must pay shipping costs both ways, or arrange for delivery. The work will be insured once it arrives at the venue.
Sales: Work may be available for sale and a commission of 35% will be taken. Unsold work should be retrieved by the artist within a week of the show’s close.
