Robert M. Minkoff Foundation Residency at the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio
NORFOLK, Va. -- (August 2013) --The Chrysler Museum Glass Studio is seeking applicants pursuing groundbreaking projects using glass for a new 14-day artist residency from January 8–22, 2014 in Norfolk, Virginia.
The goals of the Robert M. Minkoff Foundation Residency at the Chrysler Museum Glass Studio are to identify, support, and document the most innovative contemporary artwork using the material of glass as its primary component.
Project proposals should meet one or more of the following criteria for innovation:
* Technical (pioneering process)
* Conceptual (in dialogue with issues in contemporary art)
* Resourceful (energy-efficient)
* Media fluent (incorporating mixed media or performance art approaches).
Applicants must submit the following for consideration:
Current CV
A proposal for a contemporary art project involving glass as a key element
Any supporting documentation for the proposal
An artist statement
10 images of completed artworks
Materials list
Letter of recommendation
The successful applicant will receive travel to and from the residency, lodging and a per diem allowance during the two-week residency, an agreed-upon materials budget, an honorarium for a public lecture or performance at the close of the residency, and raw footage of the video documentation of the residency project. A project website and a 45-minute documentary film also will be produced about the project and residency.
The deadline for entries is September 1, 2013.
Jurors will include representatives of the Chrysler Museum of Art and the Robert M. Minkoff Foundation. The winning proposal will be announced on October 1, 2013. Proposals should be submitted to apply@4frontresidency.org. Additional information is available at www.4frontresidency.org.
