6TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM OF ENGRAVED GLASS 2014

6th International Symposium of Engraved Glass 2014

The 6th International Symposium of Engraved Glass will be held in Kamenický Senov, Czech Republic from September 15 to September 21, 2014. Tradition of triennal symposiums was interrupted in 2011 due to uncertain situation of Glass School that has been essential partner of the symposiums since 1996. Thanks to consolidation of situation at the School and support of town Kamenický Senov the 6th year of the symposium will be again a meeting of glass engravers, artists, students, experts and enthusiasts.
The Association of the Symposium of Engraved Glass decided to continue in organising the Symposium as a triennal event with connection to other international glass events. The organising committee also decided to frame the symposium primarily as a workshop concentrated on engraving work and presentations of smaller community of engravers. More space for social events and informal meeting of participants, guests, visitors and experts will take a place during weekend September 20 – 21.

21 engravers will participate in the Symposium this year. 7 from Czech Republic, 7 from abroad and 7 students from Czech and foreign schools.
Working part of the Symposium will be realised at Glass School workshops. Invited engravers are admitted to bring also one finished work that will be exhibited together with work executed during the Symposium. Exhibition will be opened on Saturday 20. Works donated to the Museum will become part of permanent collection and temporary exhibitions. Along with the exhibition of new works the Museum will present works of previous Symposiums from Museum´s collection in a special exhibition opened on the same day.

From September 22 to September 24 the Symposium will be followed by optional workshop School of Jirí Harcuba in Glass Work Frantisek in Sázava where new Centre of Glass Art was recently opened. Ms. Pavlina Cambalová will be a lecturer of the school. On 21 September morning bus transit of all interested participants and guests will be provided as well as guided Centre tour including seeing show of IGS works and opening of Jirí Harcuba exhibition. Those who will not participate at the School of Jirí Harcuba may return to Kamenický Senov by bus on Sunday 21. Information on School of Jirí Harcuba at www.cestyskla.cz

3:30 – 7 p.m. Participants´presentations (10 min. per each)

1 – 5 p.m. Optional visits of local engraving workshops

4 – 6 p.m. Pétanque game tournament (in a good weather)

Friday September 19th
Open House at Glass School, visit to Preciosa Lighting company

12:30 – 5 p.m. Work at workshop. Program for weekend guests: visiting School and local engraving workshops (own transport necessary).
5 – 7:30 p.m. Discussion about the persent anf future of ebgraved glass
8 p.m. Garden party

2 p.m. Exhibition Opening
6 p.m. Party

Sunday September 21st
9 a.m. Departure for Sázava Glass Art Centre – exhibitions of Jirí Harcuba and IGS. Evening return of those who will not participate at School of Jirí Harcuba in Sázava (September 22 – 24).
Changes of the program may occur.

Participation at slide show and presentation on Saturday 20th is open for all Symposium participants and guests with limitation of 10 slides and 2 minutes for each, max. 60 participants. Please register at sympoziumks@gmail.com.
