Lectures and live demonstrations will center around the topics represented in the Museum's 2014 major exhibitions, René Lalique: Enchanted by Glass and Designing for a New Century: Works on Paper by Lalique and his Contemporaries, both on view through December 4, 2015. These unique exhibitions have brought together more than 200 objects, jewelry, production molds, period photographs, trade catalogs, and design drawings Lalique and his contemporaries. The exhibitions explore how Lalique’s aesthetic choices in his designs informed the styles of Art Nouveau and Art Deco in France and how the objects that he created have become iconic reflections of these periods.
Seminar topics focus on the various aspects of Lalique’s work, as a jewelry maker, perfume bottle designer and as a maker and marketer of consumer products for the “modern woman” of the 1920s. Several demonstrations explore Lalique’s glassmaking techniques. Speakers include Corning Museum staff and leading Lalique experts, including Gail Bardhan, Dr. Lennart Booij, Regan Brumagen, Véronique Brumm, Nicholas Dawes, Kelley Elliott, Elizabeth Everton, Stephen Harrison, Christie Mayer Lefkowith, Amie McNeel, Anne-Marie Quette, Dr. Stefanie Walker, and Dr. Karol Wright.

The Corning Museum of Glass
The Corning Museum of Glass is home to the world’s most comprehensive and celebrated collection of glass, with more than 45,000 objects reflecting 3,500 years of glassmaking history. An independent, non-profit, educational institution, the Museum is dedicated to the art, history, science, research and exhibition of glass. The Museum is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Children and teens, 19 and under, receive free admission.
The Museum is currently adding a North Wing, designed by Thomas Phifer, which will open in late 2014. The 100,000-square-foot North Wing addition will include a new 26,000-square-foot contemporary art gallery building, as well as one of the world’s largest facilities for glassblowing demonstrations and live glass design sessions.
