Day of Glass – On Thursday, June 4, Plaza de César Chávez will be the setting for the Corning Museum of Glass Hot Glass Roadshow, a mobile, 28-foot-long, 35,000 pound, fully equipped, one-of-a-kind glassmaking studio and stage. Demonstrations will take place throughout the day. Local studios and museums will be hosting additional events as well.
Exhibitions – Regional galleries and museums will showcase special exhibitions of glass art during and around the time of the GAS conference. A Gallery Hop will take place Friday, June 5, 5pm - 8pm throughout downtown San Jose and beyond, in conjunction with San Jose's South First Fridays art walk.
Goblet Grab – Fast-paced, spontaneous, and fun! As a fundraiser for the Community Partnership Fund, GAS will host its 20th annual Goblet Grab from noon to 1pm on Saturday, June 6, in Parkside Hall A.
Technical Display – The newest and best equipment, supplies, services and publications will be on display and available for purchase in Parkside Hall A. Hours: Friday, June 5, 10am - 5pm; Saturday, June 6, 10am - 6pm; and Sunday, June 7, 10am - 3pm.
Education and Professional Resource Center – Check out glass school promotional materials and some of the latest in glass research, as well as information on job preparation and trends. Browsing Hours: Friday, June 5, 10am - 5pm; Saturday, June 6, 10am - 6pm; and Sunday, June 7, 10am - 3pm. The Poster Presentations, School Q&A Hour and Career Panel are also open to the public.
International Student Exhibition – Each year, GAS invites all student members who are currently enrolled full-time in an accredited degree-granting program to participate in the International Student Exhibition. All work is original, professionally crafted, and contains glass as the main element. A panel of jurors selects first, second, and third place recipients, as well as several honorable mention awards. Many of the pieces included in the exhibition are available for purchase. Hours: Saturday, June 6, 4pm - 6pm (awards presented at 4:30pm) and Sunday, June 7, 10am - 3pm
Live and Silent Auctions – These free events provide an opportunity to see and bid on artwork donated by conference presenters, GAS Board members and others. Auction items will be on display in Parkside Hall B from noon to 4:15pm on Saturday, June 6. The first Silent Auction table will close at 4:15pm and the Live Auction is scheduled for 5pm to 6pm.

You don’t need to be a glass artist to attend the conference but you must be a member of GAS. Individual membership fees begin at $70. Student memberships are $40. Daily conference passes are available at $170 per member per day. Student one-day passes are available at $95 per full-time student member. Pre-registration full-conference passes are available through May 25, at $350 for members and $195 per full-time student member. Onsite registration begins at noon Thursday, June 4, in the Parkside Hall Entryway.
Collectors Tour - Fly into San Francisco on Tuesday before the conference to experience the City by the Bay in true splendor. Enjoy cocktails at a spectacular private collection; take a private, curator-led tour of the de Young Museum; venture across the Golden Gate to Sausalito; and explore Bay Area private glass collections and studios, including the amazing studio of John Lewis. There will be additional exciting and art-filled stops along the way to San Jose, where the tour concludes. Tour price includes admission fees & ground transportation to all tour events, most lunches and dinners, VIP seating for special events and a full-conference pass. Space is limited.
Saturday Evening Gala: A Tribute to Dorothy & George Saxe - On Saturday, June 6, the Glass Art Society will host a memorable evening in honor of long-time supporters of GAS and the glass community, Dorothy and the late George Saxe, at the Sainte Claire Hotel Ballroom. The gala will begin following the Live Auction at 7pm with a cocktail hour, followed by a seated dinner and auction featuring 2-4 selected works. Emma Acker, Assistant Curator of American Art at the de Young Museum in San Francisco, will also speak about the Saxe collection at the museum. A special moment will be taken to establish the Saxe Emerging Artists Lecture Fund. Cocktail attire suggested.
